The Movement Grows - The Canadian Way

We as Canadians can be extremely proud with all that fellow Canadians have contributed towards making a difference in the World, and continue to, especially in our Sesquicentennial year since Confederation. Many Calgarians have made an M.A.D. (Make A Difference) Move from children to adults, organizations and companies alike. Lemonade Stands supporting cancer research, public fundraising for playgrounds and outdoor recreation, and upholding human and living creature’s rights while correcting past injustices are but a few of the amazing feats accomplished by Canadians, including many Calgarians, setting an example and encouraging others into making M.A.D. Moves.

Random Acts of Kindness, such as helping a neighbour in need or opening a door for someone who has their hand’s full, goes a long way into brightening up a person’s day. Mayor Nenshi’s 3 Things for Calgary has expanded across the country into 3 Things for Canada.

Many have taken up the challenge for Canada’s 150th birthday, giving a gift of three things. The world will never be the same with every Canadian doing three things for their neighbourhood, their nation, and their world by creating over 100 million acts of community development.

What are you passionate about and what can you do to help? That is what you need to ask yourself. Your gift of three things can simply be three acts of service and can be large, or small. Help out your local community association or non-profit organization by volunteering, donating, and/or participating in local events and activities. Develop that terrific idea, like many Canadians have over the last 150 years, and make an impact on society. The telephone by Alexander Graham Bell, the first radio broadcast by Reginald Fessenden, Terry Fox Run Foundation, MS Walk, MS Bike are among many of the accomplishments that your great idea may be added to the long list of in science & technology, healthcare, social services, politics, etc., helping advance into a better way of life.

Canadians are known worldwide as a nation that through cooperation using its unique diversity promoting peace and prosperity throughout the world. Are you part of the M.A.D. Movement that has developed in this Country? When the year is over, or you have done your 3 things, doesn’t mean you have to stop making a difference. Go find those things of interest and develop ways those interests will Make A Difference. Don’t be left out of the M.A.D. Movement, become part of a continuous Canadian Movement as so many other fellow Canadians have already done, and continue to do so for years to come, the Canadian Way.
