Making A Difference for Disaster Victims

Canada’s Sesquicentennial year of 2017 has been a trying year for many in the world having to deal with the many extreme weather phenomena causing havoc worldwide. Hurricane Harvey flooded Texas and Hurricane Irma, the strongest tropical cyclone on record, devastated the Caribbean and Florida, along with extreme drought and heat burning up B.C. and California are a few of the worldwide disasters happening close to home. Albertans, knowing too well about destructive fires after Fort McMurray, wasted no time getting supplies, donations, and aid to our neighbours to the west.

Disaster Relief

In the event of a disaster, there are so many that step in to assist those affected. These people are making a difference in helping many to recover from the tragedy that affected their lives. Canadians, along with many Calgarians, are helping those in need.

The Canadian government committed aid of $160,000 towards relief efforts in Caribbean countries. Mike Holmes, who has a home in the Caribbean, is going down with supplies and aid to help his neighbours. WestJet executed 22 flights into and out of both the Caribbean and Florida to rescue Canadians from the disaster zones.

There are way to many M.A.D. Moves helping disaster victims to mention. With all the discrimination, violence, and terrorism, it is nice to see that the majority of people are compassionate and have a desire to help those less fortunate. If you are someone looking to make a difference to disaster victims the International Disaster Information Agency website describes 6 ways how you can make a difference. Global News gives advice on donating to Hurricane Harvey victims and while avoiding scams.

Remember that by helping out in a disaster you are part of a majority that actually wants to make a difference for those disadvantaged by a disaster. And if you yourself should become a disaster victim, it is good to know there are so many offering assistance in your time of need. Join the M.A.D. Movement, as so many others have, and continuously do something that Makes A Difference for mankind.
