It is human nature that people, whether they are extroverts or introverts, need to connect with others with whom they share common interests for the development of their mental health and wellbeing. A greater sense of happiness usually develops when one feels they belong, especially when participating in a community. Any group of people that interact with each other that have some common interest, social connection, needs, or location is a community.
As the Tiny House movement becomes a growing phenomenon reflecting the change in society towards affordable sustainable living, governmental rules and regulations are a hindrance preventing it to flourish. Even though the City of Calgary has amended bylaws to accommodate certain tiny houses (laneway homes), there has been no advancement in the development of tiny house properties.
