A M.A.D. New Year

Even before Christmas arrives, many people start thinking about how to celebrate the New Year and making resolutions that will make the new year a more joyous and prosperous one. All over the world, the masses celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of a new one with a bang lighting up the night sky with fireworks. As the New Year begins many people set all kinds of goals from weight loss and fitness, organization and improving finances, to Making A Difference for others who are less fortunate.

 To gain the favour of the gods the Babylonians made promises to them at the start of each year that they would return borrowed objects and pay their debts. The Romans would give gifts and make promises hoping the two-headed god Janus would forgive them for their wrongdoings from the last year and bless them in the coming year. With two heads Janus could look back on the past and forwards toward the future.

Ever since the Great Depression, many resolutions were geared towards improving oneself and making the coming year more prosperous.

Around half of the population pledge to Improve ones physical and mental well-being, become better educated helping promote one’s career to become more financially independent, or go on an adventure in the coming year.

Others look to giving to charity or to help others volunteering with a non-profit organization or a cause which also gives them the opportunity to learn new and hone their life skills. With the changing political landscape, some people are getting more involved and actually Making A Difference to the way our society is run. The way the world has been ruled in the last century is no longer applicable to the social norm of the 21st Century.

New innovative ideas are needed in this new century to maintain and improve our lifestyles. In the new year Make A M.A.D. Move and initiate something that will Make A Difference in your life, community, country, the world, or even the universe. Think big by changing the way politics work, remove corruption, eliminate poverty and homelessness, save the environment or even initiate world peace.

 Make a resolution to Join The Movement this coming year that many people already have begun to Make A Difference in their world. Enjoy being part of the new A M.A.D. Year with the any of the many movements that improve the way we live. Have a HAPPY M.A.D. NEW YEAR!
