The M.A.D. Move #BuyLocalYYC
With a lot of Calgary businesses mentioning that they are struggling because of the economy, the extended road closures, and the recent dilemma with property taxes the city has begun the campaign #BuyLocalYYC to encourage Calgarians to shop locally for the holiday season. The city formed a business and local economy team to focus on three priorities: communication with business customers, understanding customers’ needs and determining how to reduce the costs of doing business in Calgary to help local businesses.
Local Brick-and-Mortar (B&M) stores continue to lose customers to the evolving e-commerce and m-commerce industry. Everyone is complaining business is slow, dealing with fewer customers, and the lack of available jobs, yet surrender to the ease of purchasing online. This practice reduces the nurturing of locally owned businesses which use local resources sustainably, employ local workers at decent wages, and support the local community.
Join the Buy Local Movement and support your local economy. Society needs to become more self-sufficient and less dependant on imports. The start towards a local Sustainable Circular Economy is supporting local commerce. There are many reasons to shop locally and it is time the economy is returned to the local community.
The city feels that Calgary is ready to recover and now It’s Comeback Time. They want to make life better every day for citizens, communities and businesses and are committed to Calgary’s economic recovery. Besides civic support, there are other organizations, like BeLocal, promoting local commerce. Since it’s inception in May of 2016, WebStamp has been working towards stimulating the local economy by promoting local shopping.
WebStamp offers all Calgary businesses the opportunity to Make the M.A.D. Move promoting local commerce by getting their FREE Local Business Listing in WebStamp’s Local Business Directory Listing. Our Directory is divided into 5 Zones, Downtown and the four quadrants, where your B&M stores are listed according to their location, making it easy for our readers to find a business in their community.
Celebrate a Local Christmas and feel good about supporting your community. Instead of searching your electronic device for gifts, go out and become part of the holiday atmosphere and enjoy the experience. #BuyLocalYYC and stimulate the local community.
