Explore the Neighbourhoods of Calgary

Calgary, known for the world’s greatest outdoor show, a statement that not only refers to the famous Calgary Stampede but can also apply to this great city. This city has many unique and characteristic elements, places and neighbourhoods that can provide countless hours of entertainment, activities and discovery. We all have gone up the Calgary Tower, took an expedition to the Calgary Zoo, or spent the day shopping and exploring in one of the many trendy neighbourhoods, such as Kensington or Marda Loop.

Many of the older Neighbourhoods of Calgary have evolved from many small communities that developed around Calgary over the last 130 years, eventually being annexed as part of the city. Most of the new communities are also being developed with neighbourhood centers with activities and events encouraging social community interaction. Discover the diversity of Calgary by taking a daycation in anyone the many main-streets within the city, while enjoying and experiencing the communities connected with it.

Which neighbourhood to chose? The City of Calgary Engage web page has many development projects the city is working on where you can offer input into the development of them. Pick one, then go and socialize with the community and enjoy yourself.

Become a tourist and see the things in your backyard you haven’t seen yet. Go to Calgary Tourism to discover those unknown gems. If you enjoy walking there are many places one can stretch their legs. Calgaryarea.com lists many of the Calgary Walking Routes, or you can socialize and discover neighbourhoods while participating in Jane’s Walks.

If you haven’t visited any of the trendy neighbourhoods lately, be sure to check them out, for changes are constantly happening. At visitcalgary.com you can find a list of the more popular communities to rediscover. Become a tourist and check out the many wonderful Calgary attractions at todocanada.ca. There are many more web sites with information on events, activities, and attractions for one to enjoy without the expense and aggravation associated with travelling.

Hassle-free, inexpensive, and a great way to support the local economy and communities is a fabulous way to celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday. Every weekend one could enjoyably make a M.A.D. Move, and by encouraging others to join you in your adventures we would have a movement of many, doing small things that will make a huge difference. René has been involved in the publishing and printing industry since the 1970s. He has published and distributed a successful 24-page weekly news advertiser with a circulation of 4400 copies. Also for the last 20 years, he has been a printer, plotter, scanner and 3D printer technician and installer. Since High School, he also has worked as a janitor, cabinet maker, building construction, landscaper/designer, computer operator producing microfiche, graphic artist, and webmaster, among other professions, qualifying him as a Jack-of-All-Trades.
