Futuristic Tree Sculptures on Stephan Ave
As you stroll down Stephan Ave. you can’t miss the majestic Galleria Trees located between 2nd St. and 3rd Ave. After the completion of the second Bankers Hall building, it was decided to erect 10 engineered stylized tree sculptures to help reduce downtown city wind gusts between buildings. The sculptures are equipped with an audio system and a recently added efficient state-of-the-art LED lighting system operating regularly with seasonally themed programming.
The lighting system on the trees adds to the atmosphere to the seasons, special events, and occasions to the Downtown Core. Seasonally played music along with special music events sponsored by the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Calgary International Film Festival, and Honens radiate from the imposing modern trees. The iconic Galleria Trees sculptures were donated by Trizec Hahn Office Properties to the City of Calgary in 2000.
Be amazed and gaze in awe at the majestic Galleria Trees on Stephan Ave. They are wonderful sculptures that serve several purposes. They add to the vibrancy and culture of Calgary. Make sure you check them out when a special event is happening or during a Holiday Season to appreciate their full beauty. There are many Public Art sculptures in Calgary, and this is defiantly one that should be experienced.
