Revamping Towards An Inclusive Social Economy

In WebStamp’s blog, Transforming To Weather The New Norm, we discovered that many of the world’s problems are brought on by the current global neo-capitalistic economic structure. The notion that capital, self-interest, and competition are sustainable is wrong. A new system that empowers people, and promotes the public good with cooperation is the change needed in developing an equal opportunity and sustainable economy while providing a comfortable and enjoyable lifestyle for all. An example of such an economic system has existed since 1956. The Mondragon Corporation is a corporation and federation of worker cooperatives where workers own their jobs and receive their fair share.

Taming the current capitalistic economy would be a great start towards improving the economy for one that is regenerative, equitable, and prosperous for all. Climate change creating environmental dilemmas, a collapsing economic system exposing the Great Inflation Conspiracy, unsustainable living, poverty, and crime are all direct results of Making It All About The Money. Wealth has become a commodity that the economy evolves around where even now you are asked to invest your hard money to hopefully slightly increase your wealth, all while the top 1% earners reap extreme profits.

It seems that author Ayn Rand predicted our society’s current doom in her 1957 novel “Atlas Shrugged”. In the book society’s downfall stems from the that to produce you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing. When corruption becomes rewarding and honesty becomes self-sacrifice and the laws protect the rich against the poor the end is near. We constantly see behind the scene schemes arranged by politicians and corporations to help retain their wealthy status.

Many are committed to altering the way the economy is run toward building a world that thrives on innovation and diversity as catalysts for community prosperity and inclusivity. Setsi aims to co-create a social economy ecosystem in Canada. This broad coalition of young executives, social entrepreneurs, creatives, community organizers, economists, researchers, lawyers, and social justice advocates' mission is to engage and provide meaningful opportunities to the historically under-represented communities in the social economy, social finance, impact investing and cooperative ecosystems.

By not Letting Acquiring
Money to Rule your life.

At the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI) they believe there is a need for an economy that is regenerative, equitable, and prosperous for all. They have been supporting non-profits, social entrepreneurs, activists, and advocates working together towards the Next Economy since 2012. CSI is working with Buy Social Canada about social procurement and the Marketplace Revolution. Genecis is helping by turning food waste into biodegradable plastic. SolarShare is working towards democratic control and community-financed projects with the importance of government support for systems change. The non-profit cooperative owns, finances, and operates 49 solar facilities across Ontario with values rooted in giving communities ownership, access, and control over the local infrastructure.

Progress is being made in developing an Inclusive Social Economy, but progress is slowed by the current capitalistic economy’s greed for rapid growth and profit. Many problems can be solved by Building A Better Economy that is comfortable, fair, and sustainable for all. Acquiring money should not be the goal, but should only be used as a tool to help obtain the necessities of life. Anyone can Make A Difference by not letting acquiring money rule your life.
