Participate in the Spirit of Christmas

Even though Christmas is considered as a Christian celebration, it is celebrated by many cultures worldwide as a time of peace and joy and good will toward men. The celebration has many pagan roots stemming mainly from the Romans. It developed into a time of year when people give to friends, family, and even complete strangers gifts, fellowship and generosity. Christmas is the time of year when people, cultures, and nations come together to give comfort and wellbeing to those less fortunate.

With the Holiday Season beginning and the last month to participate in Canada’s Sesquicentennial, now is a perfect time to discover the true meaning of Christmas. One can discover the Christmas Spirit through the traditions and elements associated with the holidays. The Christmas Tree, an evergreen that remains green all year round, depicts everlasting hope of mankind, the star; a Savior, the candle; displacing darkness, a wreath for never-ending love, and Santa symbolizing giving, are a few things that make up what Christmas is.

Donating to non-profit organizations that promote the Spirit of Christmas is what many do this time of year. To actually discover what Christmas is really all about, other than what you have learned from family and friends, is to get involved with the many events and activities that spread holiday cheer to the many that need assistance to enjoy the merriment of the season.
