A Festival of Lights

The seasonal public art, the Lions’ Festival of Lights, is back for the holiday season. The spectacular free drive-by light display, now compromising of over 450,000 energy efficient LED bulbs, has brought Christmas Cheer to Calgarians for 32 years. It is the Lions organization’s one way of saying thanks to the many Calgarians that have donated their time and money to Making A Difference.

The Lions’ Festival of Lights opened on December 1st, 2018 and will continue to light up the night until January 8, 2019, from 6 pm to Midnight.  You can view it driving on 14th St. in the NW as you drive through Confederation Park between 24th Ave and 32nd Ave. You can always enjoy a walk through the glistening winter wonderland.

The Lion’s Festival of lights draws over 57,000 visitors per day. It is always a collaborate effort provided by many volunteers, organizations, and sponsors that was designed by James Alafriz from Creative Intelligence Agency. There are 16,00 strings of lights powered by 3 km of power cords.

As the days become shorter be sure to brighten up the long nights by visiting this wonderful Christmas Tradition. It’s public art that will brighten up your night.
