Companies Working In Harmony
Local businesses would greatly benefit from and would help stabilize the local economy, especially the local community businesses, with working with each other instead of against each other. I am not going to give him a deal because he is a competitor attitude is a sure way to starve out potential sales. Working with your competitor can increase your sales by having them sell your product for you.
The benefit here, even though you are not making as large of a profit, is you increase your sales without having to do anything and boost the local economy to everyone’s advantage. Even giving free advice or a helping hand to your competitors creates positive alliances in the community and is like paying it forward. In turn one day you may need the advice or product that your competitor knows more about and can return the favour.
When times are good this attitude is generally the norm, but when the economy slumps businesses tend to clamp down and even bring down the economy further.
In times like these, it is more imperative that businesses and communities work together. There are a lot of places that can provide the resources to help in these troubled times. ReSourceYYC recently opened its doors in Calgary and is a HUB of highly skilled professionals with a spirit of entrepreneurship ready to provide on-demand solutions to Canada and the World. This co-working space is designed to enable motivated individuals and start-ups to succeed with the support of a like-minded community. ReSourceYYC works collaboratively with Calgary Economic Development, software vendors, professional associations and other partners to market the skills and talent of Alberta Professionals Worldwide.
Joining a local business networking group such as BNI International. BNI is like a networking club that focuses on word of mouth referrals. It is very structured and requires specific, weekly commitments from its membership. This is a great way to connect with the business community and increase your bottom line with finding the clients to help you get there.
Out of the many ways you can connect with the local businesses, the main focus is to do some of them. If you don’t act on creating a productive environment, it won’t happen.
